Dr. Zaira Ortiz-Laso received her Mathematics degree from the Universidad de Cantabria (Spain). A year later, she graduated from the master’s program in Teacher Training in Secondary Education at the same university, specializing in Mathematics. Her master’s thesis dealt with strategy choice when solving different mathematics tasks. In 2023, she obtained her PhD also from the University of Cantabria under the supervision of Dr. José Manuel Diego-Mantecón. Her thesis addressed the following research areas: teaching and learning mathematics in STEAM contexts, professional development, active learning methodologies, design of curricular materials, and implementation of research findings in secondary education. She is currently working at the Universidad de Cantabria.
